Mission Statement
Our mission is to create an environment of Professionalism, Respect, Accountability, Excellence, Enthusiasm and the ability to collect Fair and Reasonable compensation for Collision Repairers who properly restore vehicles to their Safe pre-loss Condition.
Our Core Values
ABAT seeks to give auto body shops a voice and a forum to communicate and discuss industry related issues along with the educational platform that ensures the safe and proper repair of today’s high-tech vehicles.
To perform high-quality repair service at a fair and just price. To have a sense of personal obligation to each customer.
Legislative Action and Lobbying that addresses issues like steering, parts and database manipulation.
ABAT reinvests your membership dollars in the industry through its legislative activities, trade shows and ongoing education initiatives.
ABAT creates a forum for our members to discuss best practices and industry trends. A way to combat the adage from insurance companies that “You’re
the only one” asking to be paid for a procedure.
Access to Local & National Industry News that Directly Affects your Business
The Auto Body Association of Texas is focused on serving you, the collision industry of Texas. When you Join ABAT you will be added to our email list and receive local and national industry news that will keep you informed and up to date on news and political issues that are critical to the success of your business.
Interact with other Texas Body Shops at meetings, educational seminars, and fun events that provide education and team building for you and your staff.
We hold meetings, educational seminars and fun events that provide education and team building for you and your staff. Our vendor partners often sponsor these events for us so there is usually no cost to you. We bring in nationally recognized speakers like Mike Anderson to educate and inspire our members.
Information that leads to Fair Compensation.
Our members have access to databases that contain information on local labor rate surveys, discrepancies in estimating systems, P-page information, and more. We use Ten Point, an independent third party to conduct a Prevailing Competitive Practice (PCP) Survey that provides our members with the information they need negotiate fair compensated for performing auto body repairs.
Legislative Action and Lobbying that addresses issues like steering, parts and database manipulation.
ABAT’s efforts do not stop inside the walls of our shops. The association is currently lobbying for Texas House Bill that addresses issues like steering, parts and database manipulation. It also would prevent carriers from using coercion or most incentives — including a guarantee of no out-of-pocket costs — designed to bring customers to the carrier’s network of direct repair shops agreeing to repair the vehicle under certain rates and/or terms. Membership funds are needed for lobbyists, as the insurance companies have some very strong players in the game of lobbying.
